The document provides for cooperation in areas such as museology, the preservation of cultural heritage sites, restoration, scientific research, the organization of joint exhibitions, specialist training, and the exchange of experience. This is another practical step aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Central and East Asia.
“The memorandum establishes a solid legal framework for a long-term partnership between the two institutions and helps expand opportunities to implement joint exhibitions, research projects, and cultural exchange programs”, said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.
Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum Dr Louis Ng emphasized that he was greatly impressed by the work underway in Uzbekistan to preserve and showcase its cultural heritage.
“My visit to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan was a significant experience”, said Dr Louis Ng. “I believe the memorandum will help advance our cooperation”.
The collection of the Hong Kong Palace Museum presents the history of Chinese and world civilizations, ancient works of art, the imperial palace’s heritage, and unique cultural treasures.
