La República Dominicana fortalece la salud mental y acelera la transformación de los servicios públicos
Santo Domingo.-The Dominican Government continued this week to promote initiatives that strengthen public health, streamline State services, promote transparency and consolidate important investments for the development of the country. This was highlighted by the director of the Directorate of Government Strategy and Communication (Diecom), Félix Reyna, during the presentation of the Weekly Summary, in which he announced the main actions developed by the administration of President Luis Abinader for the benefit of the population.
Government strengthens mental health care
Reyna highlighted that mental health continues to be consolidated as a priority for the Government, through a comprehensive strategy that expands the capacity for specialized care, strengthens prevention and develops new infrastructure to guarantee timely and quality services throughout the national territory.
Currently, the Public Health Network has 314 specialized mental health beds distributed in the main hospitals in the country, with the goal of exceeding 500 beds before the end of the year, which will allow specialized, humanized and multidisciplinary services to be brought closer to more communities.
Decree promotes more agile public services and less bureaucracy
During the Weekly Summary, the issuance of Decree No. 403-2026, through which the Executive Branch established the National Framework for Interoperability and Data Governance of the Public Administration, a tool that will transform the exchange of information between State institutions to offer more efficient services focused on the needs of citizens.
The measure establishes mechanisms for the secure, standardized and timely exchange of data between public organizations, strengthening information management and facilitating the provision of integrated digital services.
As part of this transformation, institutions must share the available information among themselves, avoiding requesting from citizens and companies documents that already rest in another public entity. This will reduce response times, duplication of procedures and the administrative burden for the population.
The Dominican Republic will host the main global anti-corruption forum
Félix Reyna also reported that the Dominican Republic will host, from December 1 to 4, 2026, the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), the main global forum on transparency, integrity and the fight against corruption, which will bring together more than 2,000 participants from around 140 countries.
The celebration of this event will position the country as a reference scenario for international dialogue on transparency and institutional strengthening.
Villa Centroamericana is ready to receive more than 7,200 athletes and officials
The director of Diecom also highlighted the inauguration of the Central American and Caribbean Village, the modern housing complex that will house the participants of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
Located in Ciudad Juan Bosch, in Santo Domingo Este, the facility has the capacity to receive more than 7,200 people, including athletes and officials from 37 countries, and constitutes an infrastructure that strengthens the organizational and sporting capacity of the Dominican Republic.
The complex has 150 buildings, 1,200 apartments and 3,600 rooms, as well as a dining room, health center, polyclinic, gym, doping center, meeting rooms and recreational areas, guaranteeing adequate conditions for the delegations that will participate in the regional sporting event, scheduled for July 24 to August 8, where athletes will compete in 40 sports, 56 disciplines and 64 modalities.
With these initiatives, the Government continues to reaffirm its commitment to improving the quality of life of the population and continuing to build a country with greater opportunities for all.
