Minerd avanza con los preparativos del año escolar 2026-2027
Santo Domingo.-The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) reported that preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 school year are advancing with emphasis on the adaptation of educational infrastructure, the guarantee of places for students and the strengthening of the necessary conditions to receive more than two million students from the pre-university educational system.
The progress was presented during a meeting of the Special Commission for the Opening of the 2026-2027 School Year, headed by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, in which those responsible for the different areas involved in the organization of the next school year participated.
During the meeting, the technical departments presented the progress achieved in terms of school infrastructure, quota management, acquisition and distribution of furniture and equipment for educational centers, student welfare programs and other components considered essential to guarantee the start of classes in adequate conditions.
Minister De Camps highlighted that advance planning and permanent monitoring of each of the processes allow for coordinated progress towards the opening of the new school year.
"Our commitment is to ensure that each student finds the necessary conditions to start the school year in a timely manner and in adequate spaces. We will continue to follow up on each work front until we guarantee a successful opening throughout the national territory," said the official.
ElMinerd pointed out that the preparation work will continue, with the aim of promoting the progress achieved and ensuring an optimal start to the 2026-2027 school year for more than two million students in the pre-university educational system.
As part of this planning, Minister Luis Miguel De Camps issued Departmental Order 04-2026 on March 2, 2026, through which he ordered the early activation of the Special Commission for the Opening of the 2026-2027 School Year.
This body has the responsibility of coordinating, monitoring and articulating the actions of the different areas of the Ministry of Education to guarantee that aspects related to infrastructure, availability of places, equipment, student well-being and other strategic components are executed in a timely manner before the start of teaching.

El ministro De Camps destacó que laplanificación anticipada y el seguimiento permanentede cada uno de los procesos permiten avanzar de manera coordinada hacia la apertura del nuevo año escolar. “Nuestro compromiso es asegurar que cada estudiante encuentre las condiciones necesarias para iniciar el año escolar de manera oportuna y en espacios adecuados. Continuaremos dando seguimiento a cada frente de trabajo hasta garantizar una apertura exitosa en todo el territorio nacional”,expresó el funcionario. ElMinerdseñaló que las labores de preparación continuarán, con el objetivo de propiciar los avances alcanzados y asegurar uninicio óptimodel año escolar 2026-2027 paramás de dos millones de estudiantesdel sistema educativo preuniversitario. Como parte de esa planificación, el ministro Luis Miguel De Camps emitió el pasado 2 de marzo de 2026 laOrden Departamental 04-2026, mediante la cual dispuso la activación anticipada de la Comisión Especial para la Apertura del Año Escolar 2026-2027. Esta instancia tiene la responsabilidad decoordinar, dar seguimiento y articularlas acciones de las distintas áreas del Ministerio de Educación para garantizar que los aspectos relacionados coninfraestructura, disponibilidad de cupos, equipamiento, bienestar estudiantil y demás componentes estratégicosse ejecuten de manera oportuna antes del inicio de la docencia.
