Syrian tech startup company secures investment at Damascus event

Damascus, July 20 (SANA)Under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and in the presence of Minister Abdulsalam Haykal, a Syrian technology startup announced a new investment during an official event that brought together regional investors from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for the first time to make direct investments in Syria’s technology sector.

The initiative reflects the National Tech Startups Agenda’s efforts to attract investment and build an integrated startup ecosystem.

“We must build Syria’s digital infrastructure. We are opening a new door for the country, for Syrian founders and for digital services in the market,” Minister Haykal said.

He added thatSyriawas absent for nearly 15 years, during which venture capital and startup investment accelerated around the world.

“Today, we are beginning a new chapter in a story with three partners; Syrians in Germany who carried their homeland in their hearts, investors, and the state, which provides the legislative framework and facilitates licensing procedures for companies,” the Minister said.

The event, held on Monday atKhan Suleiman Pashain Damascus’ Old City, aims to strengthen regional investors’ confidence in Syria’s technology market and highlight the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s role in creating a favorable investment environment.
