Caasd deja iniciados trabajos de colocación de 7,600 acometidas sanitaria en Villa Consuelo
Santo Domingo.– The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), engineer Fellito Suberví, began the work of replacing and expanding the sanitary sewage network in the Villa Consuelo sector, a work that will directly benefit more than 40,000 residents and will contribute to improving sanitary conditions, the quality of life and the value of properties in that community.
The official explained that the intervention, which represents an investment of more than 300 million pesos, is part of the health network renewal program carried out by the institution in different sectors of the National District, including San Carlos, Villa Juana, Villas Agrícolas and, soon, Villa Francisca, with a budget of around RD 900 million.
During a tour of the capital sector, Suberví reported that 29,220 linear meters of 16 and 8 inch PVC pipes will be installed and 7,600 new home connections will be built. In addition, 110 sanitary manholes will be built in bricks, 7,600 square meters of sidewalk and the same number of linear meters of containers.
“With these works, we are going to improve the operating conditions of the Villa Consuelo sanitary network, which will increase the capacity to convey domestic wastewater and we will also increase the coverage of this service in this community,” said the director of the Caasd.
Suberví pointed out that the work includes the placement of 56,956 square meters of asphalt, which will leave the streets of Villa Consuelo in the same or better condition than they are currently.
He said that the intervened streets will be paved as soon as the excavation and placement of 28,053 linear meters of 8-inch pipes and 1,167 linear meters of 16-inch pipes are completed.
Fellito Suberví emphasized that the work will be carried out in a phased manner, in order to reduce the impact on traffic and mobility, while the institution continues with other drinking water and sanitation interventions in Greater Santo Domingo.
He recalled that both Villa Consuelo and the San Carlos, Villa Juana, Villas Agrícola and Villa Francisca sectors had been waiting for this solution for years, which began a few weeks ago in Villas Agrícola and will continue soon in Villa Francisca.
On the other hand, the director of the Caasd guaranteed the residents of Villa Consuelo that, during the work, technicians from the institution will remain in the sector to continue improving the supply of drinking water in each home in that community.
In addition, he specified that all these initiatives are part of a great plan that the government of President Luis Abinader has been developing, through “La Caasd te Escucha”, with the replacement of sanitary networks, as well as important improvements in the production of drinking water with the 100% recovery of the main aqueducts that operate for Greater Santo Domingo.
During the event, the representative of the Federation of the Markets of Greater Santo Domingo, Lorenzo Vásquez; Julio Bernando Reyes, president of the Union of Merchants of Villa Consuelo, and Luis Méndez, president of the Association of Markets of Villa Consuelo, spoke.
Present were deputies Manuel Núñez, Carlos Sánchez and Ramón Bueno, and councilors Aneurys Ramírez, Marino Morel, Jacqueline Beltré, Yovany Soto, José Gómez and Julio César Martínez, as well as presidents and representatives of 15 neighborhood associations.

Durante un recorrido por el sector capitalino, Suberví informó que29,220 metros linealesde tuberías de 16 y 8 pulgadas de PVC serán instalados y se construirán7,600 acometidas domiciliariasnuevas. Suberví señaló que la obra contempla la colocación de56,956 metros cuadradosde carpeta asfáltica, con lo que las calles de Villa Consuelo quedarán igual o en mejores condiciones de lo que se encuentran en la actualidad. Dijo que las calles intervenidas serán asfaltadas tan pronto concluyan los trabajos deexcavación y colocación de 28,053 metros lineales de tuberíasde 8 pulgadas y 1,167 metros lineales de tuberías de 16 pulgadas. Fellito Suberví enfatizó que los trabajos se realizaránde manera escalonada, a fin de reducir el impacto en el tránsito y la movilidad, mientras la institución continúa conotras intervenciones de agua potable y saneamientoen el Gran Santo Domingo. Recordó que tanto Villa Consuelo como los sectores San Carlos, Villa Juana, Villas Agrícola y Villa Franciscatenían años esperando esta solución, que se inició hace unas semanas en Villas Agrícola y continuará próximamente en Villa Francisca. Por otro lado, el director de la Caasd garantizó a los residentes de Villa Consuelo que, durante los trabajos, técnicos de la institución se mantendrán en el sector paracontinuar mejorando el suministro de agua potableen cada hogar de esa comunidad. Además, precisó, que todas estas iniciativas forman parte de un gran plan que viene desarrollando elgobierno del presidente Luis Abinader,a través de“La Caasd te Escucha”,con la sustitución de las redes sanitarias, así como importantes mejoras en la producción de agua potable con larecuperación al 100 %de los principales acueductos que operan para el Gran Santo Domingo.
