Ministro Roberto Ángel Salcedo encabeza amplia jornada cultural en San Cristóbal
San Cristóbal.- The Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, led an extensive cultural day in the province of San Cristóbal over the weekend, which included two editions of “Tarde de Parque” and the presentation of the artistic show “Carmesí”, by the National Contemporary Dance Company.
The programming developed on Saturday and Sunday brought together national and municipal authorities, artists, cultural managers and hundreds of citizens in an initiative aimed at bringing artistic manifestations closer to communities and strengthening access to culture in public spaces.
The artistic gala held on Saturday in the Pablo Claudio Room of the San Cristóbal School of Fine Arts, was attended by Mayor Nelson de la Rosa; the vice minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, Amaury Sánchez; the general director of Fine Arts, Marianela Sallent, and the director of the School of Fine Arts, Natalie Batista, among other personalities.
During the activity, the show “Carmesí” was presented, a proposal by the National Contemporary Dance Company, with the general direction of Edmundo Poy, whose choreography, “When the sky remembers,” was created by Brodie Rachelle Masse and Darlyn Pérez.
The work explored, through contemporary dance, the emotional cycles of the human being and its parallelism with nature, showing that feelings such as anger, grief, calm and joy, evolve, heal and remain in memory, in the same way that the sky preserves the memory of each storm.
The “Park Afternoon” weekend event began last Saturday at the Cristóbal Colón Central Park, where Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo and Mayor Nelson de la Rosa led the formal event.
The public enjoyed performances by the Mayor's Music Band, the Folkloric Ballet of the Nigua House of Culture, the Trébol Youth Orchestra and the Folkloric Ballet of the Cristo Rey House of Culture.
The Experimental Percussion Group of the Ministry of Culture also participated, along with an exhibition and sale of crafts made by local creators.
The activities concluded on Sunday in the municipality of Yaguate, with a second “Park Afternoon”, held in the Juan Pablo Duarte park, where Minister Salcedo was accompanied by Mayor José Oviedo; the Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, Amaury Sánchez, the Vice Mayor Aurora Valdez, local authorities, cultural managers and education representatives of this district.
The artistic programming included presentations by the Mayor's Music Band, the T3 Cultural Center Music Band, directed by maestro Deyson Marmolejos; contemporary dance groups, music, hip hop from Carril de Haina, experimental percussion and a craft exhibition.
The “Park Afternoon” initiative is part of the cultural decentralization policy promoted by the administration of Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo, with the purpose of bringing the artistic and cultural offering of the Ministry of Culture to the municipalities and communities throughout the country, promoting citizen participation, local talent and democratic access to cultural expressions.
