Damascus, July 20 (SANA)Syria’s Education MinisterMohammad Abdulrahman Turkoand Lebanon’s Ambassador to Syria Henry Kastoun discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in education on Monday, focusing on the recognition of academic certificates held by Syrian students inLebanon.

During talks at theEducation Ministryin Damascus, the two sides reviewed procedures to facilitate the recognition of certificates awarded to Syrian students in Lebanon and address administrative hurdles that could affect their academic progress. They also discussed expanding cooperation and exchanging expertise in the education sector.

Turko stressed the importance of continued coordination between the two countries to ensure students can continue their education, reaffirming Syria’s commitment to developing educational partnerships that support students and strengthen the sector.

Kastounsaid Lebanon was ready to deepen educational cooperation with Syria and provide the necessary support on issues affecting Syrian students, according to the Syrian Education Ministry.

Earlier this month, the Syrian Embassy in Beirut said Lebanese education authorities had confirmed that Syrian students residing in Lebanon would be eligible to sit for the 2026 special session of the Lebanese General Secondary Certificate examinations across all four academic streams.
