Syria, Kuwait agree to establish high-level coordination committee, deepen ties
Kuwait City, July 20 (SANA)Syria and Kuwait have agreed to establish a high-level joint coordination committee and expand cooperation in diplomacy, trade and investment, Syria’s Foreign Ministry said on its Telegram channel on Monday.
The agreement came during a meeting inKuwait Citybetween Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassanal-Shaibaniand his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-AhmadAl-Sabah.
According to the ministry, the new committee, to be co-chaired by the two foreign ministers, will oversee joint committees aimed at advancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
The ministers also agreed to strengthen diplomatic coordination, work toward exchanging ambassadors, and boost economic and investment ties through the creation of aSyrian-Kuwaiti Business Council. They also discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and business councils.
During the meeting, al-Shaibani reaffirmed Syria’s support for Kuwait, respect for its sovereignty, and condemnation of any attacks targeting Kuwaiti territory or the territory of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
