Damascus, July 19 (SANA)PresidentAhmad al-Sharaaissued Decree No. 154 of 2026 on Sunday appointing Dr. Mohammad Wael Mahmoud al-Khaled as president of theNational University for Defense Sciences.

On July 5, President al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 147 of 2026 , establishing “The National University for Defense Sciences,” a specialized educational and training scientific university for military sciences.

Headquartered in Damascus, the university has legal personality and administrative and financial independence. It is authorized to establish affiliated colleges, institutes, and centers in Damascus and other Syrian provinces.
