Lima, July 19 (SANA)A magnitude 5.6earthquakestruck centralPeruon Saturday, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 22 km (13.7 miles), according to the EMSC.

Peru is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world’s most seismically active zones, where frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity occur due to the movement of tectonic plates.
