Damascus, July 19 (SANA)One person was killed and 36 others injured in 22 road accidents across Syria over the past 24 hours, theSyria Civil Defensesaid in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said that Civil Defense teams provided first aid to the injured, transported them to hospitals, cleared accident sites and secured the affected areas.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to observe speed limits, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy by checking brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions such as using mobile phones while driving.

During the same period, Civil Defense teams responded to 120 fires nationwide, including two in agricultural fields and crops and 118 in homes, commercial premises, grasslands, trees, garbage sites and electrical wiring.Firefightersextinguished all the blazes and cooled the affected sites, with damage limited to material losses.

On Saturday, two people were killed and 19 others injured in road accidents and fires that prompted emergency responses by Civil Defense teams across several Syrian provinces.
