CENTCOM: U.S. forces strike military targets in Iran, deny reports of tanker explosion

Washington, July 18 (SANA)U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)said that it had carried out a new round of air, ground and naval strikes against targets inIran, marking the seventh consecutive night of military operations, while denying Iranian claims that two oil tankers had exploded in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement posted on X on Saturday, CENTCOM said that the strikes targeted surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and naval capabilities.

The command added thatU.S. forcesemployed fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and warships during the attacks, affirming that operations aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities would continue alongside the enforcement of what it described as a full naval blockade ofIranian ports.

Yesterday, CENTCOM announced that it had destroyed a maritime surveillance tower atIran’s Chabahar Port, saying the facility formed part of a coastal maritime surveillance network extending along Iran’s shoreline on the Gulf of Oman.

In a separate statement, CENTCOM denied reports circulated byIran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps(IRGC) claiming that two oil tankers had exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after striking naval mines in the international shipping lane.
