I managed to get in touch by phone with a representative of the Orang Asli community of Kampung Sungai Cot, Maran who was present at my residence this afternoon. I heard the problems they faced related to the land dispute in addition to the arrest of three Orang Asli residents from their village. Alhamdulillah, I was informed that those who were arrested before have been released by the Police. I will raise the issue of this land dispute with the State Government since it is under the jurisdiction of the state. I warn any party not to manipulate this matter but to resolve it fairly and prudently in accordance with the law. ANWAR IBRAHIM

Saya sempat berhubung menerusi telefon dengan wakil masyarakat Orang Asli Kampung Sungai Cot, Maran yang hadir di kediaman saya petang tadi. Saya mendengar permasalahan yang dihadapi mereka terkait pertikaian tanah selain penahanan tiga penduduk Orang Asli dari kampung mereka. Alhamdulillah, saya dimaklumkan bahawa mereka yang ditahan sebelum ini telah dibebaskan oleh pihak Polis. Isu pertikaian tanah ini akan saya bangkitkan bersama Kerajaan Negeri memandangkan ia berada di bawah bidang kuasa negeri. Saya memberi peringatan kepada mana-mana pihak agar tidak memanipulasikan perkara ini sebaliknya diselesaikan secara adil dan berhemah mengikut lunas undang-undang. ANWAR IBRAHIM
