Kuwait, Qatar say air defenses intercept attacks following Iranian strikes

Kuwait City/Doha, July 17 (SANA)Kuwait and Qatar said on Friday that their air defense systems intercepted missile and drone attacks after Iranian strikes targeted the twoGulf states.

Kuwait’s General Staff of the Armed Forcessaid its air defenses intercepted missile and drone attacks, adding that explosions heard in some areas were caused by interception operations.

The military urged citizens and residents to follow safety instructions issued by authorities and rely on official sources for updates. It earlier said it had detected and intercepted 32 hostile drones that had entered KuwKuwaitaiti airspace since early Thursday.

In Doha, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said its armed forces were continuing to respond to aerial attacks targeting the country.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior said a child was injured by shrapnel from air defense interception operations and was receiving medical treatment. It said security and civil defense teams had implemented emergency response measures following an attack targeting the country early Friday.

The ministry called on the public to rely on official information and avoid sharing unverified reports, images or videos.

Qatar’s Defense Ministryhad earlier announced that its forces intercepted a missile attack targeting the country.

On July 12, Qatar held Iran responsible for renewed attacks targeting its territory and that of several Arab countries, describing the strikes as violations of sovereignty and international law.
