Israeli occupation forces raid Abdin village in western Daraa countryside
Daraa, July 17 (SANA)Israeli occupation forces raided the outskirts of Abdin village in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Friday, with troops opening fire toward civilians.SANA’s reporter in Daraa said an Israeli military force consisting of four vehicles and a bulldozer entered the village and removed rocks blocking the road leading to theal-Arda area, where Israeli forces have repeatedly established temporary checkpoints.The operation was accompanied by gunfire toward civilian homes in the area, the reporter said.An Israeli drone also dropped a bomb near a group of residents who were placing rocks on the Maariya-Abdin road to block traffic, causing no injuries or material damage, according to the reporter.The Israeli force advanced from Al-Jazeera barracks on the outskirts of Maariya village, which Israeli forces have occupied since late 2024 and which serves as their only military base in Daraa province, he added.On Thursday, Israeli forces stationed at the barracks fired machine guns toward homes in Maariya causing no casualties or property damage.Residents later blocked the road with rocks after the forces withdrew, before Israeli troops reopened it during Friday’s operation.Israel continues to violatethe 1974 Disengagement Agreementthrough its incursions into southern Syria, assaulting civilians through raids and arrests, bulldozing land, and shelling.Syria consistently demands the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from its territory, asserting that all measures taken by Israel are null and void and have no legal effect under international law.
