Presidente Abinader inaugura la Villa Centroamericana y del Caribe para los XXV Juegos Santo Domingo 2026
Santo Domingo Este.–President Luis Abinaderinaugurated this Thursday the Central American and Caribbean Village, the modern housing complex that will house the athletes and officials participating in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
Located in Ciudad Juan Bosch, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, the Village represents one of the main legacies of the organization of the games and symbolizes the country's commitment to sporting excellence and sustainable urban development.
Speaking a few words, President Abinader expressed his wish that all athletes enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay, reaffirming the tradition of hospitality that characterizes the Dominican Republic as a host nation.
Likewise, President Abinader urged Dominican athletes to represent the country with pride, discipline and good behavior, noting that in addition to competing for medals, they are also hosts of the event.
He indicated that the national delegation is motivated and inspired to achieve the greatest possible number of medals, although he emphasized that the most important thing is that healthy competition prevails between sister countries.
The head of state stated that his greatest aspiration is for the Dominican Republic to obtain “the medal of hospitality”, demonstrating efficiency and exemplary organization during the development of the games.
The complex has the capacity to accommodate more than 7,200 people, including athletes and officials from 37 nations in Central America and the Caribbean. It is structured in five blocks identified with outstanding Dominican tourist destinations: Pedernales, Punta Cana, Samaná, Montecristi and Puerto Plata.
This conception seeks to project the cultural and tourist wealth of the Dominican Republic to regional visitors.
3,600 rooms and 1,200 apartments
The town has 3,600 rooms, 150 buildings and 1,200 apartments. Each building consists of eight three-bedroom apartments with a master bedroom with walking closet, two bathrooms in total and a laundry area.
Likewise, it has a dining room with capacity for 2,200 people, a health center, a polyclinic, a doping center, a gym with capacity for 150 people simultaneously, four meeting rooms, two entertainment areas with a cinema with capacity for 100 people, recreational areas with billiards, video games and mini soccer for 150 people.
The village polyclinic represents one of the most innovative legacies of the games, becoming the first facility of its kind in the history of the event with a comprehensive medical infrastructure within the athletes' village.
Each home has a living room, dining room, three bedrooms, kitchen, balcony, bathrooms and a comprehensive air conditioning system, guaranteeing the comfort of athletes.
The complex has modern facilities that include an entertainment center, international area, food truck park, coffee shop, supermarket, polyclinic, gym and various recreational spaces. These facilities aim to ensure the comprehensive well-being of residents during their stay.
In the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, the participation of athletes from 37 countries is expected, who will compete in 40 sports, 56 disciplines and 64 modalities. The games will be from July 24 to August 8.
The inauguration of the Central American and Caribbean Village marks a significant milestone in the preparations for Santo Domingo 2026, consolidating the Dominican Republic as a top-level venue in regional sports.
