Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Discusses Investment in Petroleum Products, Production Expansion, and Diversifying Export Routes with Chevron •••••••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi held talks today, Thursday, at the headquarters of Chevron Corporation with Mr. Mark Nelson and members of the company’s Board of Directors, in the presence of the Minister of Oil, the Minister of Electricity, the Chairman of the PM Advisory Commission, a number of advisers, and the Iraqi Ambassador to Washington. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi invited Chevron to expand and accelerate its operations in Iraq in support of the government’s strategic objective of increasing crude oil production, expanding Iraq’s petroleum products refining capacity, and enabling the oil sector to diversify its export routes. The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s readiness to provide the necessary land, approvals, and facilities for the establishment of oil refining complexes and the supporting infrastructure for the petrochemical industries, as well as increasing gas production and transferring advanced technology to Iraq in these fields in order to accelerate implementation. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening an optimal investment environment for international companies operating in Iraq and supporting their contribution to job creation, in a manner that reinforces the strength of the Iraqi economy and enhances the country’s ability to address development challenges. For his part, Mr. Nelson expressed Chevron’s interest in investing in Iraq’s southern oil fields, pipeline projects linking them to regional ports, and associated storage facilities, while intensifying efforts to shorten project implementation timelines. ••••• Media Office of the Prime Minister July 16, 2026
