Syria, Türkiye discuss agricultural investment and cooperation agreements
Damascus, July 16 (SANA)Minister of AgricultureBasel al-Suwaidanmet on Thursday with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of TürkiyeAhmet Bağcıand an accompanying delegation to discuss ways to strengthenagricultural cooperationbetween the two countries and prepare for the signing of joint agreements aimed at advancing the agricultural sector.
During the meeting, al-Suwaidan emphasized the strong ties between Syria and Türkiye, expressing appreciation for the support provided by the Turkish government to the Syrian people.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s openness to all forms of cooperation that contribute to developing the agricultural sector and creating new investment opportunities.
The Minister highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise, training specialized personnel, and benefiting from Türkiye’s experience in agricultural insurance, greenhouse development, park and forest rehabilitation, afforestation campaigns, and integrated pest management in border areas.
For his part, Turkish Deputy Minister Bağcı stressed the importance of expanding investment cooperation and sharing expertise in modern agricultural technologies, machinery, and irrigation systems, in addition to strengthening participation in agricultural exhibitions held in both countries.
Turkish Ambassador to SyriaNuh Yılmaz also underscored the need to follow up on the implementation of the agreed measures and to coordinate closely between the two sides to ensure that the outcomes of the meeting are translated into practical steps.
