Final group of displaced Afrin families returns home from northeast Syria

Aleppo, July 16 (SANA)– The final group of displaced families fromAfrinwho had been living inHasakah provinceand other areas east of the Euphrates returned to their homes in the Aleppo countryside on Thursday, as part of a government-backed efforts to facilitate the voluntary return of displaced Syrians to their areas of origin.

The convoy included around1,000 familiesand was organized under security and logistical arrangements overseen by the presidential committee tasked with facilitating and securing voluntary return operations.

Mohammad al-Hassan, head of the Public Relations Office in Afrin administration, told SANA that local authorities had coordinated with relevant institutions to organize and receive the convoy of returning families from Hasakah.

Residents welcomed the return, describing it as an important step toward restoring social stability and enabling families to return to their homes and agricultural land.

The return operation is being supervised by the presidential delegation responsible for implementing theJan. 29 agreement, with efforts focused on addressing logistical challenges, ensuring essential services and supporting the sustainable reintegration of returnees.
