Vicepresidenta Raquel Peña confirma participación de RD en la Cumbre Iberoamericana Madrid 2026
Madrid, Spain. –The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, confirmed this Thursday the participation of the Dominican Republic in the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will be held on November 4 and 5, 2026, in Madrid.
The topic was addressed during a meeting with the director of Relations with Ibero-America of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) and permanent secretary of the Council of Ibero-American Businessmen (CEIB), Narciso Casado.
During the meeting, conversations also advanced to explore the pilot application in the Dominican Republic of the 4T Model, an initiative aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized businesses.
The meeting was part of the official agenda developed by the vice president in Spain to expand cooperation and strengthen economic ties between both countries.
Peña highlighted the importance of Dominican participation in the upcoming Ibero-American Summit, one of the main spaces for political consultation in the region, in which representatives of each nation analyze shared challenges and agree on cooperation initiatives.
The presence of the Dominican Republic reflects the commitment of President Luis Abinader's government to multilateral dialogue and the construction of alliances that contribute to the development of the country.
Regarding the 4T Model, both parties highlighted the opportunities that its implementation would offer to increase the productivity of Dominican MSMEs and facilitate their access to new markets.
The methodology is articulated around four dimensions: Talent, Territory, Transformation and Traction. Its application allows identifying priorities and coordinating efforts between the public and private sectors to expand the capabilities of companies.
The possible execution of a pilot project in the Dominican Republic would contribute to the strengthening of a fundamental sector for the generation of jobs and the revitalization of the national economy.
Visit to the Royal Spanish Academy
Subsequently, as part of her agenda in Madrid, the vice president made an institutional visit to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), where she was received by Juan Luis Cebrián, full academician of the institution, founder and first director of the newspaper El País.
During the tour, which lasted approximately one hour, Peña visited emblematic spaces of the institution, including its library, one of the main centers for conservation and consultation of bibliographic heritage in the Spanish language.
The visit made it possible to highlight the work carried out by the RAE in the study and care of Spanish, as well as the cultural link that unites the Dominican Republic with the Spanish-speaking community.
Also present on the tour were the ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain, Tony Raful Tejada, and Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings.

Visita a la Real Academia Española Posteriormente, como parte de su agenda en Madrid, la vicepresidenta realizó una visita institucional a laReal Academia Española(RAE), donde fue recibida porJuan Luis Cebrián,académico de número de la institución, fundador y primer director del diarioEl País. Durante el recorrido, de aproximadamente una hora, Peña conoció espacios emblemáticos de la institución, entre ellos su biblioteca, uno de los principales centros de conservación y consulta delpatrimonio bibliográfico en lengua española. La visita permitió poner en valor el trabajo que realiza la RAE en elestudio y cuidado del español,así como elvínculo culturalque une a la República Dominicana con la comunidad hispanohablante. En el recorrido también estuvieron presentes el embajador de la República Dominicana ante el Reino de España,Tony Raful Tejada, yVíctor “Ito” Bisonó,ministro de Vivienda, Hábitat y Edificaciones.
