Fire at Algeria orphanage kills 11
Algiers, July 16 (SANA)Eleven people were killed and 19 others injured after a fire broke out at anorphanagein the Algerian capital early Thursday, civil protection authorities said.
According to theAlgeriaPress Service (APS), firefighting and emergency teams were dispatched at around 3:30 a.m. local time to extinguish the blaze at the Mohammedia Children’s Assistance Institution.
In a preliminary toll,civil protection authoritiessaid the fire killed 11 people and injured 19 others, including 10 who suffered burns of varying severity, while the remaining victims were treated for smoke inhalation and breathing difficulties.
On July 4, three people were killed in a fire at a storage facility belonging to a private catering and equipment company in the southeastern province of Ouargla.
