Jordan, Iraq reaffirm support for diplomacy, deeper economic cooperation
Washington, July 16 (SANA)Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi andJordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadireaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means of addressing regional crises during talks in Washington on Thursday.
According toJordan’s Foreign Ministry, the two officials reviewed regional and international developments and exchanged views on key issues of mutual concern amid ongoing challenges affecting regional security and stability, the Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
The talks also focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in economic and development sectors, including advancing the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline project and completing the electricity interconnection between the two countries.
The meeting came two days after al-Zaidi met U.S. PresidentDonald Trumpin Washington to discuss bilateral ties, expanding economic cooperation and increasing the participation of U.S. companies in Iraq’s development projects, particularly in the energy and oil sectors.
