Rumen Radev: Cabinet’s ambition is to develop modern science and research infrastructure to encourage growing numbers of young people to opt for career development in Bulgaria

Prime Minister Rumen Radev discussed the prospects for deeper bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Germany in the field of education and science with members of German research institutes and publishing houses. The meeting was upon an initiative of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade which presents in Bulgaria opportunities for further deeper bilateral partnership in the economy, investment, innovation, science and research, education and sports.

Rumen Radev stressed that Bulgaria works to strengthen cooperation in the field of education as a key factor to develop an economy with higher added value and to improve competitiveness. The possibilities for partnership between German and Bulgarian universities and research organizations were discussed for the purposes of technology exchange, innovation development, staff training and transfer of research projects into practice. Emphasis was placed on the potential for cooperation in the implementation of modern production methods, robotics, Artificial Intelligence for industrial applications and sustainable production.

Prime Minister Rumen Radev stressed that Germany is Bulgaria’s leading economic partner and noted that the development of the human factor is one of the main preconditions for sustainable economic growth. He emphasized the need to build a modern science and research infrastructure in the country to encourage more young people to choose to stay and to opt for career development in Bulgaria.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation Ivan Vasilev, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Acad. Nikolay Vitanov, the Deputy Minister of Interior Kaloyan Miltenov and the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva.
