Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Affirms the Government’s Approach to Building Balanced Foreign Relations and Fostering an Environment Conducive to Foreign Investment … Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met today, Wednesday, at the U.S. Capitol with Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Brian Mast and Republican and Democratic members of the Committee, as part of his official visit to Washington, D.C. During the meeting, the two sides discussed developing shared and constructive perspectives on steps to advance Iraqi-U.S. relations across various fields and at all levels. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi affirmed that the government is moving forward with its economic reform program and revitalizing sectors with strong investment potential, as well as enhancing the capabilities of Iraq’s security forces and pursuing its approach of ensuring that no weapons remain outside state control. The Prime Minister stated that the government is pursuing a balanced approach to foreign relations, fostering an environment conducive to investment, and reforming and developing the financial and banking sectors to pave the way for more U.S. companies to operate in Iraq. For their part, members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee stressed their support for economic and political partnerships with Iraq and for efforts by both sides to strengthen relations and expand investment, economic partnerships, and financing partnerships between Iraq and the United States.
