Wilson: The United States is committed to ease export restrictions on Syria
Washington, July 15 (SANA)– US RepresentativeJoe Wilsonannounced on Wednesday that Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and SecurityJeffrey Kesslerhas made a formal commitment to quickly update and ease export restrictions on Syria following the commencement of the process to remove it from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.In a post on his X platform, Wilson noted that this commitment is part of an effort to provide Syria with a new opportunity by updating and easing export restrictions.This will allow US companies to resume exporting to and investing in the Syrian market, and open the door to investment flows after the export regulations are amended.U.S. President Donald Trump told Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa during their meeting on July 8, 2026, at the NATO summit in Ankara, of his decision to rescind Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Congress will conduct a 45-day review to finalize and make this decision permanent.
