Deir Ezzor, July 15 (SANA)Deir Ezzor InternationalAirporthas completed the essential phases of its rehabilitation, achieving operational readiness to receive flights in line with approved technical and operational requirements,airportofficials announced on Wednesday.

Airport Director Firas al-Azzawi told SANA that the rehabilitation project was completed in a record timeframe through continuous supervision by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport and the dedicated efforts of the airport’s technical and administrative staff.

He said the work had enabled the airport to meet the operational requirements necessary for resuming services while adhering to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Al-Azzawi noted that final operational and administrative procedures are currently underway ahead of the airport’s planned reopening at the beginning of August.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport previously announced that Jazeera Airways will begin regular direct flights between Kuwait and Deir Ezzor starting on Aug. 8, as part of efforts to strengthen air connectivity between Syria and Kuwait and expand travel options for passengers.
