Chairing the National Food Security Council Meeting Number 1 of 2026 today, which examines the agenda of strengthening the competitiveness of the country's agro-food sector to ensure food security and improve the well-being of farmers, rice farmers, breeders and fishermen. The meeting discussed the expected Super El Niño phenomenon that is predicted to hit Malaysia starting November 2026. KPKM was asked to immediately prepare mitigation measures to reduce its impact on food production and ensure that the farming community continues to be protected. The meeting also examined the issue of fisheries sector cooperation with the Government of Thailand. I direct KPKM to finalize this matter immediately through proper channels, without compromising on food safety and quality standards. Continuous engagement must also be carried out with the fishing community so that their products can meet the set standards. The government will continue to strengthen the agro-food sector through the use of technology, innovation and best practices so that local producers remain competitive, thus ensuring that the country's food supply remains secure for the well-being of the people. #MalaysiaMADANI #YakinMADANI
