Seychelles and La Réunion Sign MoU on Security Cooperation
President Dr Patrick Herminie, yesterday witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Seychelles and La Réunion on strengthening cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, money laundering and transnational organised crime.
The signing ceremony was held at the Hôtel de Préfecture, in St Denis, and the legal instrument was signed by the Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr James Camille, on Seychelles side, and Préfec of La Réunion, Mr Patrice Latron, on the French, side, in the presence of President Herminie.
Under the arrangement, the two Parties agree to strengthen cooperation through the exchange of operational intelligence, support for controlled deliveries, financial investigations into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering, specialised training, technical assistance, and the exchange of experts.
The signing ceremony was part of President Herminie’s 3-day official visit to La Réunion, which focused on deepening and broadening cooperation between the Reunion and Seychelles.
