Mivhed entrega estadio de béisbol en el Centro Olímpico
Santo Domingo.– The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, handed over the remodeled baseball stadium number 3 at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, within the framework of the preparation of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, which will be held from July 24 to August 8.
During the delivery, Minister Ito Bisonó assured that they are in the final deliveries, thus fulfilling the commitment assumed in front of this important sporting event.
"Just a few months ago we were talking about schedules, commitments and dates. There were questions. There were doubts. There were even those who thought it would be very difficult to arrive on time. Today the conversation is different. Today we talk about facts. We talk about completed works. We talk about fulfilled commitments," said the official, during the event.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, highlighted that the delivery of the renovated baseball stadium represents evidence of the transformation process that the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center is experiencing.
“It cannot be omitted, it cannot be changed that this has changed, that the transformation is felt and that this million-dollar investment that has been made here must be taken care of,” he expressed.
Likewise, the president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, Juan Núñez, highlighted that this is the first major project for Dominican baseball, considering it an icon of the king of sports in the Dominican Republic.
Likewise, the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldy Bautista, stated that the baseball stadium is suitable for celebrating international events, placing the country as a reference.
Also, at the event, the president of the Centro Caribe Sports, Luisín Mejía Oviedo, stressed that this work shows that the country is prepared to host the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games.
The intervention covered a total area of 12,681.72 square meters that will be used by hundreds of baseball players who will participate in this international event.
The work included the renovation of the stands, the playing field, the dogouts, the bullpen, the athletes' locker rooms and the backstop. It also included the installation of a new drainage system, irrigation system, lighting towers, perimeter fence, as well as improvements to the electrical and sanitary installations and bathrooms.
With this remodeling, the Mivhed strengthens the national sports infrastructure, providing the Olympic Center with a renovated stadium with the necessary conditions for the celebration of international competitions and the development of baseball in the country.
So far, the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings has delivered twelve sports facilities at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and the Parque del Este.
Mivhed has already delivered the Volleyball Practice Pavilion, Softball Stadium A, Softball Stadium B, Aquatic Center, Fencing Pavilion, Weightlifting Pavilion, Archery Range, Table Tennis Pavilion, Chess Pavilion, Gymnastics Pavilion and Handball Pavilion.
While other facilities continue in the process in their final phase, and will be delivered in the coming days, carrying out President Luis Abinader's commitment to adapt and modernize the country's main sports venues for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, complying with the standards required for this type of international competitions.
Minister Ito Bisonó was accompanied by important baseball glories such as former baseball players José Canó and Nelson Cruz, manager of the Dominican baseball team in the World Classic.

Hablamos de compromisos cumplidos”,expresó el funcionario, durante el acto. De su lado, el ministro de Deportes,Kelvin Cruz, destacó que la entrega delremozado estadio de béisbolrepresenta una evidencia del proceso de transformación que experimenta el Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte. “No se puede omitir, no se puede cambiar que esto ha cambiado, que la transformación se siente y que esa inversión millonaria que se ha hecho aquí hay que cuidarla”, expresó. Asimismo, el presidente de la Federación Dominicana de Béisbol,Juan Núñez, resaltó que esta es la primera obra de envergadura para el béisbol dominicano, considerándola unícono del deporte reyde la República Dominicana. De igual manera, el presidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano,Garibaldy Bautista,manifestó que el estadio de béisbol está apto para celebrareventos internacionales, colocando al país comoun referente. También, en el acto, el presidente del Centro Caribe Sports,Luisín Mejía Oviedo, recalcó que esta obra evidencia que el país está preparado para recibir los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. La intervención abarcó un área total de12,681.72 metros cuadradosque serán utilizados por centenares de peloteros que participarán en este evento internacional. Los trabajos incluyeron la renovación de las gradas, el terreno de juego, losdogouts, elbullpen, los vestidores para atletas y elbackstop.También incluyó la instalación de un nuevo sistema de drenaje, sistema de irrigación, torres de iluminación, verja perimetral, además de mejoras en las instalaciones eléctricas, sanitarias y los baños. Con esta remodelación, el Mivhedfortalece la infraestructura deportiva nacional, dotando al Centro Olímpico de un estadio renovado y con las condiciones necesarias para la celebración decompetencias internacionalesy el desarrollo del béisbol en el país. Hasta el momento, el Ministerio de Vivienda, Hábitat y Edificaciones ha hecho entrega dedoce instalaciones deportivasen el Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte y en el Parque del Este. El Mivhed ya entregó el Pabellón de Voleibol de Práctica, el Estadio de Softbol A, el Estadio de Softbol B, el Centro Acuático, el Pabellón de Esgrima, el Pabellón de Halterofilia, el Campo de Tiro con Arco, el Pabellón de Tenis de Mesa, el Pabellón de Ajedrez, el Pabellón de Gimnasia y el Pabellón de Balonmano. Mientras que otras instalaciones continúan en procesoen su fase final, y serán entregadas en los próximos días, efectuando elcompromiso delpresidente Luis Abinaderdeadecuar y modernizarlos principales escenarios deportivos del país de cara a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe 2026, cumpliendo con losestándares exigidospara este tipo de competencias internacionales.
