Caasd corrige averías para mejorar el servicio de agua en el Distrito Nacional y Santo Domingo Este
Santo Domingo.-The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd) reported that, during the weekend, it carried out several interventions in the National District and the Santo Domingo Este municipality to correct breakdowns in the drinking water system, reduce resource losses and improve the service.
Through a press release, the institution explained that the largest intervention corresponded to the repair of a breakdown in a 67-inch main line, located in the La Grúa sector, on Freddy Beras Goico Avenue, in Santo Domingo Este.
To carry out these tasks, it was necessary to temporarily take the system out of operation, so the supply remained limited in the sectors supplied by that infrastructure while the brigades corrected the failure.
In Ciudad Juan Bosch, the Caasd also repaired a breakdown recorded around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday in a 30-inch drive line that feeds the housing project's storage tank.
The entity indicated that, after detecting the break, it immediately activated the emergency system of the new Agua Clara aqueduct, put into operation several months ago, and enabled a connection of 48 to 30 inches from the Cachón de la Rubia system to maintain the supply while the repairs were carried out.
Thanks to these tasks, the service was not interrupted in Ciudad Juan Bosch, although the water arrived with a lower pressure than usual.
The work included draining the line, excavating with heavy equipment and repairing the pipeline. The work concluded on Saturday afternoon with the restoration of the system.
In the National District, the brigades corrected a breakdown in a 16-inch drinking water line, located at kilometer 11 of Independencia Avenue, in front of the Sandra Segunda residential complex, with the purpose of avoiding water waste and improving distribution to the sectors supplied by that network.
Likewise, they repaired a breakdown in a four-inch iron pipe, located on Rosa Duarte Street, in Gascue, an intervention aimed at guaranteeing the continuity of service to homes in the sector.
As part of the work carried out over the weekend, the Caasd also carried out the crossing of a pipeline at the intersection of César Nicolás Penson Avenue and Ricardo Robles Street, in La Esperilla.
According to the institution, this work will strengthen the supply, optimize the operation of the network and improve the stability of the service for more than 60,000 residents of the La Esperilla and Gascue sectors.
The work was carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett), in order to facilitate vehicular mobility and guarantee safety during the intervention.
The Caasd highlighted that these actions are part of its program to maintain and strengthen the drinking water distribution network in Greater Santo Domingo, with the aim of reducing breakdowns, minimizing waste of the resource and improving the quality of the service that users receive.

La entidad indicó que, tras detectar la rotura, activó de inmediato elsistema de emergenciadel nuevo acueducto de Agua Clara, puesto en funcionamiento hace varios meses, y habilitó unempalme de 48 a 30 pulgadasdesde el sistema deCachón de la Rubiapara mantener el abastecimiento mientras se ejecutaban las reparaciones. Gracias a estas labores,el servicio no fue interrumpidoen Ciudad Juan Bosch, aunque el agua llegó con una presión inferior a la habitual. Los trabajos incluyeron el desagüe de la línea, excavaciones con equipos pesados y la reparación de la tubería. Las labores concluyeron la tarde del sábado con elrestablecimiento del sistema. En elDistrito Nacional, las brigadas corrigieron una avería en unalínea de agua potable de 16 pulgadas, ubicada enel kilómetro 11 de la avenida Independencia, frente al residencial Sandra Segunda, con el propósito deevitar el desperdicio de agua y mejorar la distribuciónhacia los sectores abastecidos por esa red. Asimismo, repararon una avería en una tubería de hierro decuatro pulgadas, localizada en lacalle Rosa Duarte,en Gascue, una intervención orientada agarantizar la continuidaddel servicio a los hogares del sector. Como parte de las labores desarrolladas durante el fin de semana, la Caasd también ejecutó el cruce de una tubería en la intersección de la avenidaCésar Nicolás Penson con la calle Ricardo Robles,en La Esperilla. De acuerdo con la institución, esta obra permitiráreforzar el suministro, optimizar el funcionamiento de la red ymejorar la estabilidaddel servicio para más de60,000 residentesde los sectores La Esperilla y Gascue. Los trabajos se realizaron en coordinación con laDirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre(Digesett), con el fin de facilitar lamovilidad vehiculary garantizar la seguridad durante la intervención. La Caasd destacó que estas acciones forman parte de suprograma de mantenimiento y fortalecimientode la red de distribución de agua potable en elGran Santo Domingo,con el objetivo de reducir las averías, minimizar el desperdicio del recurso y mejorar la calidad del servicio que reciben los usuarios.
