Intrant interviene 17 rutas en Santiago por aumentos no autorizados en precio del pasaje y fiscaliza 85 vehículos irregulares
Santiago.–The National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant), in coordination with the National Police, the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security (Digesett) and the Mayor's Office of Santiago, carried out an extensive supervision, control and inspection operation on 17 public passenger transportation routes in the province of Santiago, after detecting unauthorized increases in the price of the ticket, with the purpose of guaranteeing compliance with Law No. 63-17, on Mobility, Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety.
The operation was carried out on the routes CA, E, F, G, H, HB, HV (Villa Bao-Hato del Yaque), L, N (Negrito-Camaján), NC (Franjas), P, PA, PC, RPA, SP (Santiago-Puñal), U and Tamboril-Santiago, affiliated with the CNTT Federation, where the rates charged to users, the documentation of the drivers and compliance with the regulations were verified. provisions established by current legislation.
As a result of the day, 180 public transport vehicles were inspected, of which 85 were inspected for non-compliance with current regulations. Likewise, three vehicles were detained due to irregularities detected during the supervision and three foreign citizens were inspected, in accordance with the corresponding procedures.
The executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, reiterated that the interventions were concentrated on the few routes where irregular increases were identified and recalled that 99% of organized transport has maintained the commitment not to increase rates, in compliance with the agreements reached with the institution.
Likewise, he highlighted that more than 95% of the country's public transportation organizations have supported the decision to keep the fare price unchanged, prioritizing dialogue and respect for the current legal framework.
Morrison recalled that the Government maintains support mechanisms for the transportation sector, including the fuel subsidy and the Gas Chauffeur Bonus program, from which thousands of transporters benefit, which is why he reiterated that any modification in rates must be based on technical studies and be authorized by Intrant, the only entity empowered by Law 63-17 to regulate the fare regime for public passenger transportation.
Intrant reaffirmed that it will continue to develop supervision and inspection operations throughout the national territory to protect the rights of users and guarantee respect for the law.

Morrison recordó que el Gobierno mantienemecanismos de apoyoal sector transporte, entre ellos el subsidio a los combustibles y el programaBono Gas Chofer, del que se beneficianmiles de transportistas, por lo que reiteró que cualquier modificación en las tarifas debe sustentarse en estudios técnicos y ser autorizada por el Intrant,única entidad facultada por la Ley 63-17para regular el régimen tarifario del transporte público de pasajeros. El Intrant reafirmó que continuará desarrollandooperativos de supervisión y fiscalizaciónen todo el territorio nacional para proteger losderechos de los usuariosy garantizar elrespeto a la ley.
