Syria, Pakistan discuss cooperation on women’s empowerment at OIC conference

Islamabad, July 13 (SANA)Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat and Pakistan’s Minister for Law, Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation onwomen’s empowermentand the protection of women’s rights during a meeting on the sidelines of the Ninth Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad.

According to a statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the two ministers explored opportunities to exchange expertise and address shared challenges in support of OIC member states’ efforts to strengthen women’s rights and advance women’s economic, social and political empowerment.

The ministry said the discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in initiatives that support the advancement of women and further the OIC’s objectives for women’s empowerment.

Kabawat is participating in the Ninth OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, held in the Pakistani capital under the theme “The Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Member States: Challenges and Prospects.”

The conference brings together ministers and senior officials from OIC member states to discuss policies and initiatives aimed at advancing women’s participation and addressing common challenges across the Islamic world.kA.ABD
