Caasd fortalece la cultura del ahorro del agua e impacta a más de 10,000 ciudadanos
Santo Domingo.- The director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), engineer Fellito Suberví, reported that during the first half of 2026, he developed an extensive environmental and community education program that made it possible to directly impact more than 10,000 citizens, including students, teachers, community leaders and public institutions, through actions aimed at the responsible use and conservation of water.
When reviewing the progress of all areas of the Caasd during the first six months of the year, Suberví highlighted that the Department of Care and Relations with the Community gave 225 talks in 108 educational centers, benefiting 8,712 students, of which 5,090 were girls and 3,622 boys, strengthening their knowledge about the importance of water as an essential resource for life and the need to protect it.
Likewise, the general director of the Caasd said that the educational sessions reached 1,293 adults, including community representatives, teachers, collaborators of government institutions and citizens, distributed in 823 women and 470 men, who received guidance on saving water at home, the proper use of drinking water, environmental conservation, community responsibility and the services offered by the institution.
He said that, as part of the strategy of outreach to citizens, the Caasd developed two community educational days, highlighting the talk “The Caasd is yours”, an initiative designed to strengthen the link between the institution and the population by explaining the processes of production, treatment and distribution of drinking water, as well as the functions, responsibilities and services offered by the corporation.
The awareness actions were also extended to public institutions, including the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) and the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as the National Botanical Garden, the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (Digeig), the General Directorate of Livestock and the Salomé Ureña Higher Institute for Teacher Training (Isfodosu).
Fellito Suberví indicated that, as part of the process of expanding its educational programs, the Promotion and Community Education Division of the Caasdinitialized training sessions aimed at the private sector, incorporating commercial companies interested in promoting an institutional culture of efficient water use and environmental protection.
He highlighted that these results reflect the Caasd's permanent commitment to citizen education and the preservation of water resources, convinced that the active participation of the population constitutes an essential element to guarantee the sustainability of the drinking water service.
Engineer Fellito Suberví stated that he will continue to expand the scope of these educational programs during the second half of the year, integrating new communities, educational centers, organizations and public and private institutions, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen a culture of savings, responsible use and protection of water, for the benefit of the entire population of Greater Santo Domingo.

Asimismo, el director general de la Caasd dijo que las jornadas educativas alcanzaron a1,293 adultos, entre representantes comunitarios, docentes, colaboradores de instituciones gubernamentales y ciudadanos, distribuidos en823 mujeres y 470 hombres,quienes recibieron orientaciones sobre el ahorro del agua en el hogar, eluso adecuado del aguapotable, la conservación ambiental, la responsabilidad comunitaria y los servicios que ofrece la institución. Dijo que, como parte de la estrategia de acercamiento con la ciudadanía, la Caasd desarrolló dosjornadas educativas comunitarias, destacándose la charla “La Caasd es tuya”,una iniciativa diseñada para fortalecer el vínculo entre la institución y la población mediante la explicación de los procesos deproducción, tratamiento y distribucióndel agua potable, así como de las funciones, responsabilidades y servicios que ofrece la corporación. Las acciones de sensibilización también fueron extendidas a instituciones públicas, entre ellas el Ministerio de la Vivienda y Edificaciones(Mived), el de Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología (Mescyt) y el de Agricultura, así como el Jardín Botánico Nacional, la Dirección General de Ética e Integridad Gubernamental (Digeig), la Dirección General de Ganadería y el Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (Isfodosu) Fellito Suberví indicó que, como parte del proceso de expansión de sus programas educativos, laDivisión de Promoción y Educación Comunitaria de la Caasdinició jornadas de capacitación dirigidas al sector privado, incorporando empresas comerciales interesadas en fomentar una cultura institucional deuso eficiente del agua y protección del medio ambiente. Destacó que estos resultados reflejan el compromiso permanente de la Caasd con laeducación ciudadanay la preservación de losrecursos hídricos,convencida de que la participación activa de la población constituye un elemento esencial para garantizar lasostenibilidad del servicio de agua potable. El ingeniero Fellito Suberví afirmó que continuará ampliando el alcance de esos programas educativos durante el segundo semestre del año, integrando nuevas comunidades, centros educativos, organizaciones e instituciones públicas y privadas, con el propósito de seguir fortaleciendo unacultura de ahorro, uso responsable y protección del agua, en beneficio de toda la población del Gran Santo Domingo.
