Miles asisten al Festival del Libro y la Cultura Dominicana 2026 en Nueva York
New York.-The 2026 Dominican Book and Culture Festival concluded this Sunday after three days of an intense cultural program that brought together thousands of visitors to the George Washington Educational Campus, in the Washington Heights sector, in New York, to consolidate itself as one of the main stages for the promotion of literature, art and Dominican identity abroad.
The closing ceremony was led by the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, accompanied by Rey Andújar, director of the Directorate of Dominican Culture Abroad (DCDEX) and the vice ministers Pastor de Moya, of Cultural Identity and Citizenship, and Amaury Sánchez, of Creativity and Artistic Training.
During his speech, the minister announced that the next edition of the Dominican Book and Culture Festival will be held on July 11, 12 and 13, 2027, while highlighting the growth of the event and the support received from the Dominican community, the cultural sector and the participating institutions.
Organized by the Directorate of Dominican Culture Abroad (DCDEX) as an institution attached to the Ministry of Culture, the festival developed a program that included more than 120 activities, including conferences, book presentations, colloquiums, workshops, poetry recitals, exhibitions, theater, concerts, documentary screenings and children's activities, a variety that attracted thousands of attendees during the three days.
More than 50 national and international publishers participated in this edition, along with numerous cultural and educational organizations, in addition to more than a hundred. of guest writers from the Dominican Republic and the Dominican diaspora established in the United States, South America and Europe.
One of the central axes of the program was dedicated to the commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the death of Juan Pablo Duarte, with more than ten special activities aimed at highlighting the life, thought and legacy of the founder of the Dominican nation, including conferences, book presentations, documentary screenings and various artistic expressions inspired by his figure.
Under the motto "Reading is flourishing", the Dominican Book and Culture Festival 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of reading, education and the dissemination of Dominican culture inside and outside the national territory, strengthening New York as one of the main meeting points for Dominicans abroad.
