France to summon Russian ambassador, impose sanctions over alleged cyberattacks
Paris, July 13 (SANA)France’s Foreign MinisterJean-Noël Barrotsaid on Monday that Paris will summon the Russian ambassador in the coming days and impose sanctions over what it described as large-scale cyberattacks attributed toMoscowagainst several European countries, including France.
According to AFP, Barrot said the sanctions will target nine individuals and four entities that France says were responsible for the cyber campaign, which it alleges was orchestrated by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
Barrot said the attacks targeted government ministries, companies and service operators to gather intelligence or disrupt operations, citing Poland’s railway network as one example.
He added that France had detected the attacks and had significantly strengthened its cyber defenses in response.
