Infotep impulsa el uso ético de la inteligencia artificial para fortalecer la investigación y la innovación
Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening scientific research and innovation, which is why it carried out the panel "Research in the era of knowledge and artificial intelligence: engine of innovation and sustainable development."
The discussion was held within the framework of the presentation of Volume II of the magazine Avance FTP (Advance of Professional Technical Training), whose edition incorporates research and academic contributions on current topics, along with a program dedicated to analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence, research and sustainable development.
The panel brought together the academic vice-rector of the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD), Carmen Consuelo López, as well as the executive director of the Dominican Institute for Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (IDEICE), Jesús Antonio Andújar Avilés, and the person in charge of the Research Department of that institution, Adrián Gutiérrez Cepeda.
The experts debated the impact of artificial intelligence on the generation of knowledge and the challenges associated with its incorporation into research processes. They also agreed that this technology offers ample opportunities to strengthen scientific research, as long as its implementation meets ethical criteria, encourages critical thinking, and is supported by solid preparation of researchers.
Artificial intelligence as an ally of research
Dr. Carmen Consuelo López maintained that artificial intelligence should be assumed as a resource to support academic and scientific work, never as a substitute for human thinking.
He warned that delegating analysis and reflection to these tools can limit the critical capacity of students and researchers, which is why he emphasized the importance of strengthening analytical skills along with mastery of new technologies.
While Dr. Jesús Antonio Andújar Avilés explained that artificial intelligence has become one of the main tools to transform educational research, since it facilitates the processing, organization and analysis of large volumes of information.
Likewise, he highlighted that IDEICE develops initiatives aimed at strengthening the capabilities of researchers through national and international alliances and projects focused on literacy in artificial intelligence, with the purpose of promoting responsible and effective use of these technologies.
Adrián Gutiérrez Cepeda pointed out that artificial intelligence has significantly accelerated scientific advances in areas such as health and education, although he stressed that the true value of technology lies in its ability to transform information into useful knowledge that responds to the needs of society.
Alliances to promote sustainable development
The panelists agreed that the future of research will depend on the capacity of institutions to train human talent with critical thinking, strengthen ethics in the use of technologies and consolidate alliances between the State, academia, the productive sector and society.
In this context, they highlighted the need to develop research and solutions supported by evidence that contribute to facing national challenges and promote sustainable development.
With this initiative, Infotep continues to promote spaces for academic exchange that strengthen scientific research, promote innovation and encourage the responsible use of artificial intelligence as a tool for the development of human capital and the competitiveness of the Dominican Republic.

Advirtió que delegar el análisis y la reflexión en estas herramientas puede limitar la capacidad crítica de estudiantes e investigadores, por lo que enfatizóla importancia de fortalecer las competencias analíticas junto con el dominio de las nuevas tecnologías. Mientras que el doctor Jesús Antonio Andújar Avilés explicó que la inteligencia artificial se ha convertido en una de las principales herramientas para transformar la investigación educativa, ya quefacilita el procesamiento, la organización y el análisis de grandes volúmenes de información. Asimismo, destacó que el IDEICE desarrolla iniciativas orientadas a fortalecer las capacidades de los investigadores mediante alianzas nacionales e internacionales y proyectos enfocados en laalfabetización en inteligencia artificial, con el propósito de promover unuso responsable y efectivo de estas tecnologías. Adrián Gutiérrez Cepeda señaló que la inteligencia artificial ha acelerado significativamente losavances científicos en áreas como la salud y la educación, aunque subrayó que el verdadero valor de la tecnología radica en sucapacidad para transformar la información en conocimiento útilque responda a las necesidades de la sociedad.
