Syria advances search and rescue certification efforts at INSARAG annual meetings
Brazil, July 13 (SANA)A delegation from Syria’sMinistry of Emergency and Disaster Managementparticipated in the 2026 annual meetings of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) inBrazilas part of the country’s efforts to strengthen its urban search and rescue capabilities and obtain international classification for its rescue teams.
The annual gathering brought together representatives of governments and international organizations involved in search and rescue and disaster management to discuss operational standards, preparedness and international cooperation.
The ministry said theSyrian delegationheld meetings with the INSARAG Secretariat and member states to exchange expertise on developing national capabilities and enhancing the operational readiness of Syria’s search and rescue teams in line with international standards.
The meetings also enabled the delegation to review the technical and organizational requirements for international classification of Syria’s urban search andrescue teamsfollowing the country’s recent accession to the INSARAG network.
INSARAG is aUnited Nations-supported international network that develops global standards and coordinates cooperation among urban search and rescue teams to improve disaster preparedness and emergency response.
