Syrian American Council hails first People’s Assembly session as a key milestone
Washington, July 13 (SANA)TheSyrian American Council(SAC) said Monday that the first session of Syria’s People’s Assembly since the fall of theformer regime“marked a key milestone in the country’s political transition,” congratulating the Syrian people on what it described as a significant step.
In a statement posted on the X platform, the council said: “Syria’s People’s Assemblyconvened for the first time since the fall of the deposed Assad regime. More than 19 months after Bashar al-Assad was ousted, members of Syria’s new 210-seat parliament took their constitutional oath in Damascus, a moment Syrians inside the country and around the world have been waiting for.”
The council congratulated the Syrian people on what it described as an important milestone and affirmed that it would continue to stand with Syria “every step of the way.”
SAC also called onSyrian Americansto join its efforts in supporting advocacy, recovery and building a stronger future for Syria.
The first session of the People’s Assembly was held on Sunday in the presence of PresidentAhmad al-Sharaa,Chairman of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections Mohammad Taha al-Ahmad, and a number of government ministers.
