Presidente Luis Abinader realiza misa de acción de gracias en su cumpleaños, junto con familiares y amigos
Santo Domingo.-President Luis Abinader celebrated his 59th birthday with an intimate mass in the San Rafael chapel of the National Palace, surrounded by close family, friends and officials.
The president was accompanied by his mother, Rosa Sula Corona, widow Abinader; the first lady Raquel Arbaje; his brothers, José Rafael and Rita Sulina Abinader Corona, and his mother-in-law, Margarita Soneh Curi.
In his words at the celebration, the president thanked God for his health and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working actively for development, peace and tolerance in the Dominican Republic.
The head of state said that they always celebrate a mass in a small chapel, but he chose to do it in the National Palace to unify forces in the face of the challenges that the country demands.
He recalled that neither in the Abinader family nor in the Crown is there a deep-rooted tradition of celebrating birthdays en masse, remembering with nostalgia his father and his aunts, who used to see each birth anniversary as “one year less and not one more year.”
Despite this family vision, the president chose to celebrate life in a devout manner and renew the spiritual forces and perseverance of management in the face of the country's demands.
President Abinader took the opportunity to tell those present that morning and night prayer guides his daily decisions to maintain focus on state planning.
“The country expects a lot from us and we have to prepare to continue working in favor of the nation, understanding each situation and always with due tolerance to maintain, above all, peace and development,” he expressed.
The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, also participated in the Eucharistic celebration; the former presidentHipolito Mejia; the former vice president, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, and the president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos.
At the Eucharist, officiated by Monsignor Tomás Morel, coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, prayers were offered for the health, well-being and wisdom of the president, in his capacity as head of the Dominican State and Government.
During the homily, the celebrant asked the president to continue sowing “because God has placed us in this world so that we can make the earth with our gifts and talents.”
He recalled that, as today's reading reminds us, many seeds are lost, but others bear fruit, and that is what the Lord wants.
"We are in a complicated terrain, there is a lot of weeds and you have the seed, do not be discouraged. There are many rocky terrains that nothing fits," Monsignor Morel recalled, indicating that, although many seeds are lost, perseverance grows and over time bears fruit.

Recordó que ni en la familia Abinader ni en la Corona existe una arraigada tradición de festejar los cumpleaños de forma masiva, al recordar con nostalgia a su padre y a sus tías, quienes solían ver cada aniversario de nacimiento como“un año menos y no un año más”. A pesar de esavisión familiar, el mandatario optó por celebrar la vida de manera devota yrenovar las fuerzas espirituales y la perseveranciade la gestión ante las demandas del país. El presidente Abinader aprovechó para decirles a los presentes que laoración matutina y nocturnaguía sus decisiones diarias para mantener el foco en la planificación estatal. “El país espera mucho de nosotros y tenemos que prepararnos para seguir trabajando a favor de la nación, entendiendo cada situación y siempre con la tolerancia debida para mantener sobre todo la paz y el desarrollo”,expresó. De la celebración eucarística participaron también la vicepresidenta de la República,Raquel Peña; el expresidenteHipolito Mejia;la exvicepresidenta,Milagros Ortiz Bosch,y el presidente del Senado,Ricardo de los Santos. En la eucaristía, oficiada pormonseñor Tomás Morel, arzobispo coadjutor de la Arquidiócesis de Santo Domingo, se elevaron oraciones por lasalud, bienestar y sabiduríadel mandatario, en su condición del jefe del Estado y Gobierno dominicano. Durante la homilía, el celebrante pidió al mandatario continuar sembrando“porque Dios nos ha colocado en este mundo para que nosotros hagamos la tierra con nuestros dones y talentos”. Recordó que, como nos recuerda la lectura de hoy, muchas semillas se pierden, perootras dan frutos, y eso es lo que quiere el Señor. “Estamos en un terreno complicado, hay mucha maleza y usted tiene la semilla, usted no se desanime. Hay muchos terrenos rocosos que no le entra nada”,recordó monseñor Morel, al indicar que, aunque muchas semillas se pierden,la perseverancia engrandecey con el tiempo da frutos.
