Kuwait, Oman and India condemn Iran attacks amid escalating regional tensions
Capitals, July 12 (SANA)Kuwait, Oman and India on Sunday condemned a series of Iranian attacks amid escalating military tensions in the Gulf, calling for restraint, the protection of civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping, and renewed diplomatic efforts to restore regional stability.Kuwait’s Foreign Ministrycondemned Iranian attacks targeting the country’s territory, saying they constituted a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a direct threat to its security and stability.In a statement posted on X, the ministry said the attacks reflected a repeated hostile approach and violated international law, the United Nations Charter andU.N. Security Council Resolution 2817.It warned that continued attacks risked further destabilizing the region, threatening regional peace and security, and undermining diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.The ministry reaffirmed that Kuwait’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity were non-negotiable, adding that the country reserved the right to take all necessary measures to protect its national security in accordance with international law and the U.N. Charter.In neighboring Oman, a security source said drone attacks had targeted sites in the northern governorate of Musandam.According to the Oman News Agency, the source condemned the attacks and said the relevant authorities were taking all necessary measures to respond to the developments and safeguard the country’s security and its residents.Omani authorities said they were closely monitoring the situation and taking the necessary steps to preserve security and stability.India also condemned an attack on the containership Galaxyoff the coast of Oman, confirming that one Indian national remained missing after the incident.India’s Foreign Ministry said the vessel was carrying 11 Indian citizens. Ten were rescued, while one remained unaccounted for, adding that the Indian embassy in Oman was coordinating closely with local authorities and relevant agencies.The ministry expressed deep concern over continued attacks on commercial shipping in the region, calling for an immediate de-escalation and intensified diplomatic efforts to restore security and stability.It also urged an end to attacks on commercial vessels and civilian infrastructure and called for the restoration of freedom of navigation and international trade through global waterways in accordance with international law.The statements came afterU.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)said it had completed a new round of airstrikes against Iranian military targets, which Washington said were launched in response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said it fired a warning shot at a vessel it described as traveling on an “unauthorized route.”The latest developments underscore growing regional concern over the impact of the escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran on Gulf security and international maritime trade.
