Samaná.–President Luis Abinadera confirmed this Saturday that the province of Samaná is experiencing a transformation process driven by the investments developed by the Government in infrastructure, health, land titling and job creation, by leading the “First You” social inclusion day in the Wilmore sector, municipality of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, where more than 3,000 services were offered and the repair and renovation of 35 homes was carried out, in addition of the construction of four houses.

During the event, held at the Zuleica Acosta Polytechnic, the president highlighted that Samaná is experiencing a development process driven by important investments aimed at boosting the economy and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

“Samaná is not only moving forward to generate jobs, with that large port in Arroyo Barril that is being built, but also with the remodeling of the port of the city of Samaná, the works on the entrance avenue, the qualifications that we have carried out, the removal of the hospital and many other works that we are building to solve people's problems,” he expressed.

President Abinader explained that, in addition to infrastructure works, the Government strengthens its social inclusion policy by bringing public services directly to the communities through the “First You” days, developed within the framework of the ElGobierno Contigo program.

"We are here continuing with the social inclusion day 'First You', a project of El Gobierno Contigo that we are carrying out throughout the country and that today reaches the province of Samaná," ​​he said.

The head of state highlighted that more than 20 government institutions participated in the event to guide citizens about the available programs and services.

"People need social aid and also know the Government institutions. We want them to know where to go when a family member, a neighbor or someone in their community has a need," he indicated.

Likewise, he urged community leaders and residents to become multipliers of that information. “We want you to become multipliers of that information so that more Dominicans can benefit from the programs offered by the Government.”

The president concluded by reaffirming his administration's commitment to the most vulnerable families. “That is what this government is for: to serve its people and, especially, those who need it most.”

Solutions that transform communities

During the day, the director of Propeep, Robert Polanco, highlighted that the institution continues to provide concrete responses to the families most in need through actions aimed at promoting social inclusion and the dignity of homes.

"Our commitment is to continue working together with the communities so that the social policies of the Government of President Luis Abinader reach directly those who need them most. Every home we build, every roof we replace and every community project we deliver represents an opportunity to transform lives and build more dignified communities," said Polanco.

Likewise, he noted that Propeep will continue to execute social and community projects that contribute to reducing poverty and improving the living conditions of thousands of Dominican families.

Works of high community impact

As part of the comprehensive intervention, the Presidential Commission to Support Neighborhood Development built alleys and internal access roads with concrete aggregate, facilitating the mobility of residents. In addition, it conditioned and restored the sector's basketball court, strengthening a space for community integration and recreation for children and young people.

Dasac actions strengthen the intervention

The Directorate of Social and Community Assistance (Dasac) complemented the day with the distribution of 5,000 raw food rations through house-to-house operations in the municipalities of Sánchez and Santa Bárbara de Samaná, benefiting communities such as Wilmore, El Caimito, La Mix, Zapatica, La Batida I and II, Loma del Telecable, Honduras, Manhattan, as well as the sections Acosta (Tesón), Anadel, Villa Clara, Carenero, Los Yagrumos, La Flecha and Los Cacaos.

The institution also put into operation the Sánchez Community Kitchen, with the capacity to produce and distribute 5,000 cooked portions daily, strengthening the food security of that municipality and nearby communities.

Likewise, Dasacam furnished 55 homes by delivering appliances and household goods to families in vulnerable conditions and, in coordination with the Presidential Commission to Support Neighborhood Development, carried out the roofing of 100 homes with an investment of RD 6.5 million in construction materials.

The actions also included the delivery of fans to the Espíritu Santo Catholic Church of Los Cacaos, the strengthening of community organizations and the equipment of the Las Galeras Technical School.

In total, the interventions carried out by Dasac represented an investment of RD 15.8 million in the province of Samaná.

Also participating during the day were the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), the National Institute of Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (Inaipi), the Institute of Aid and Housing (Inavi), Supérate, the National Council for the Aging (Conape), the National Council for Disability (Conadis), the Ministry of Public Health, the National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi) and the National Institute of Vocational Technical Training. (Infotep), bringing services and direct assistance to hundreds of families.
