Qatari minister says Doha committed to deepening relations with Syria
Damascus, July 11 (SANA)Qatar’s Minister of Stateat the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, said his meetings in Damascus reflected the close ties betweenSyriaandQatarand reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
In a post on X, Al-Khulaifi said he was pleased with the “fraternal meeting” in Damascus, adding that Syria and Qatar share deep bonds of brotherhood and strong relations based on mutual trust and respect.
“We will continue our joint efforts to strengthen these ties for the benefit of our two brotherly peoples and to consolidate the foundations of security, stability, and prosperity across the region,” he said.
Earlier on Saturday, President Ahmad al-Sharaa received the Qatari minister to discuss bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them, as well as efforts to promote regional openness and cooperation. The two sides also discussed reconstruction efforts, the humanitarian response, and investment opportunities during Syria’s recovery phase.
Also on Saturday, Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and Al-Khulaifi signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in diplomatic studies and training following talks at Tishreen Palace.
