ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON ADDRESSING THE IMPACT OF MIDDLE EAST AND Prime Minister’s Office, Thursday, 9 July 2026 The Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has established a special committee known as the National Committee on Addressing the Impact of Middle East [Reference: Prime Minister’s Office Press Release dated 3 June In line and following His Majesty’s Titah during the Reshuffle and Appointment of the New Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers 2026 on 4 June 2026, the Terms of Reference of the Committee have been updated with the following changes: • The scope of the Committee has been expanded beyond the Middle East conflict and will serve as a national platform to address any crisis or external shocks that may potentially affect the resilience and security of the country; • Following the expansion of its scope, the Committee has been renamed the “National Committee on Addressing the Impact of the Middle East Conflict and Current Developments”; • The membership of the Committee has also been updated. The Committee will be co-chaired by the Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II; the Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies , and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry ; and the Coordinating Minister for Social and Manpower Policies, and Minister o f Home Affairs. The remaining membership comprises relevant Cabinet Ministers to ensure a Whole-of-Government approach. To date, the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di -Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has been able to manage the situation and will continue to closely monitor current developments and undertake appropriate measures to ensure that the nation’s interests, economic stability, and the well -being of the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam remain safeguarded at all times. Developments relating to this National Committee will be shared from time to time on the Prime Minister’s Office website.
