This first mountain stage of the 2026 edition was an opportunity to salute the commitment of the runners, organizers and public services mobilized for this French sporting and heritage event. During the stage on Thursday July 9, President Emmanuel Macron and Christian Prudhomme joined the race before arriving at Gavarnie-Gèdre for the presentation of the trophies and jerseys. The next day, the President of the Republic visited in Loudenvielle, a small town in the Hautes-Pyrénées benefiting from France Ruralités Revitalization zoning. He participated in a tour of the tourist development of the valley and the edge of the Génosa lake as well as the sports facilities which benefit the inhabitants and the sports preparations of national teams.
