I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Chua Mia Tee. Through his paintings — from "National Language Class" to the portrait of Encik Yusof Ishak on our currency notes — he captured Singapore as it was. His works are an enduring part of our shared story and heritage. Last July, I visited an SG60 exhibition of his paintings. His daughter shared his conviction: 先有国,才有家 — only when the country is strong and stable can families thrive and children have hope. He painted with that belief all his life. My deepest condolences to his family. 🔗 : https://www.instagram.com/p/Dam5ts4P5AL/?igsh=aXd3am93b3JjN3lk
