UAE, Bahrain welcome U.S. move to remove Syria from state sponsors of terrorism list

Abu Dhabi/Manama, July 10 (SANA)The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain welcomed the United States’ decision to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, saying the move would support reconstruction efforts, attract investment and help reintegrate Syria into the global economy.The UAE Foreign Ministry said the decision announced byU.S. President Donald Trumprepresented a positive development that would contribute to Syria’s recovery and reconstruction.In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Thursday, the ministry said removing Syria from the list would create broader opportunities for economic revitalization, attract foreign investment and strengthen Syria’s integration into the international financial and economic systems, contributing to security, stability and development.The ministry also expressed appreciation for Trump’s efforts and reaffirmed the UAE’s support for initiatives aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, stability, peaceful coexistence and development.Bahrain also welcomed the U.S. move, saying it would support reconstruction efforts, increase opportunities for investment and foreign assistance, and help restore Syria’s connection with global financial and economic institutions.The Bahraini Foreign Ministrysaid the kingdom valued Trump’s efforts to support Syria, particularly initiatives related to lifting economic sanctions and promoting security, peace and sustainable development in the region.It reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for Syria’s security, stability, unity and territorial integrity, saying the move would help Syria resume its role in the Arab and international communities.The reactions followed a message received by President Ahmad al-Sharaa from President Trump on Wednesday informing him that Washington had begun procedures to remove Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. Under U.S. law, Congress will conduct a 45-day review before the decision is finalized.
