LNG shipments resume through Strait of Hormuz despite renewed tensions
Singapore/Tokyo, July 10 (SANA)Liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers have resumed transiting theStrait of Hormuzdespite renewed military tensions in the region, signaling a gradual recovery in shipping through one of the world’s most important energy trade routes.
According to Reuters, vessel-tracking data showed several LNG carriers entering the strait in recent days, including vessels linked toQatarEnergy. Japan also said 22 ships associated with Japanese interests, including six crude oil tankers, had exited the Arabian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz since July 7, leaving only four vessels in the region.
Shipping analysts said traffic through the waterway has begun to recover gradually, although some vessels continue to adjust their routes or adopt precautionary measures while transiting the strait.
The resumption of traffic comes despite renewed military escalation in the area. The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18 aimed at maintaining a ceasefire and ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. However, the past two days have seen dozens of U.S. strikes on Iran in response to attacks targeting commercial vessels in the strategic waterway.kA.ABD
