Wellington Arnaud y el Banco Mundial socializan avances del proyecto de agua potable y aguas residuales en Moca y Gaspar Hernández

Santo Domingo.- The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, met with businessmen, neighborhood associations, members of the press and authorities from the Espaillat province to share the progress of the Water Supply and Wastewater Services Improvement Project in Moca and Gaspar Hernández, financed by the World Bank.

The official explained that the project is executed under the technical, fiduciary, environmental and social standards required by the international organization, with the objective of guaranteeing sustainable and high-impact interventions for the population.

Likewise, he reported that during the fourth quarter of this year, it is planned to gradually begin the construction contracts linked to the sanitary sewer in the municipality of Moca, after having exhausted the phase of studies, surveys, designs, environmental and social instruments, as well as the reception of offers carried out on May 19.

“Rest assured that we started this important project and we will get out of here until we finish it, bringing health and quality of life to all of you, thanks to the commitment of President Luis Abinader,” said Arnaud.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen, expand and modernize infrastructure and capacities linked to drinking water and sanitation services in Moca and Gaspar Hernández, in coordination with the Moca Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Coraamoca), as the local operator of said systems.

On March 13, the initiation of the contract for the rehabilitation of the plant was carried out, an intervention that contemplates relevant improvements in key components of the treatment system.

The main operational and electromechanical interventions will continue to be developed in accordance with the technical schedule of the project and the receipt of specialized equipment that was managed for the work.

As part of the project, feasibility studies and final designs; topographic surveys; preliminary diagnoses of existing networks; environmental and social instruments; community consultations; acquisition of the land required for the new Gaspar wastewater treatment plant have been developed. Hernández; institutional strengthening of Coraamoca; acquisition of heavy vehicles, such as hydrosuction trucks, to support cleaning, maintenance and attention to obstructions in health networks; as well as contracting processes in accordance with the technical, fiduciary, environmental and social standards required by the World Bank.
