Jóvenes de zonas rurales serán capacitados para impulsar el empleo y el emprendimiento

Santo Domingo.-More than 13,600 young people from rural areas throughout the country will be trained to strengthen their use of employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable development opportunities, through a technical-professional training program that will be executed by the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (Infotep).

The initiative is part of the Employability Route, one of the central interventions of the Productive Inclusion and Resilience of Poor Rural Youth Project (ProruralJoven), aimed at developing technical competencies aligned with the needs of the labor market and self-employment opportunities.

The announcement was made by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, and the general director of Infotep, Maira Morla Pineda, after formalizing a cooperation agreement that will allow the development of training actions aimed at strengthening the technical skills of rural youth.

The initiative will benefit vulnerable rural youth residing in the 18 provinces prioritized by the project, with limited access to formal employment or technical-vocational training. Of the total expected participants, 5,600 will be incorporated through the Inclusion Route and 8,000 through direct training requests in the prioritized territories.

Minister José Ignacio Paliza highlighted that the purpose is to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and tools necessary to develop productive projects, generate employment opportunities and improve their quality of life.

He explained that the initiative ensures that youth find opportunities where they live. This strengthens their roots in the territory and contributes to the sustainable development of rural communities.

"More than an investment in training, it is a commitment to the talent, entrepreneurship and future of rural Dominican youth," said the official.

For her part, the general director of Infotep, Maira Morla Pineda, highlighted that this initiative represents an opportunity to transform the reality of thousands of young people from rural communities through relevant training aligned with the needs of the productive sectors.

He maintained that the project will strengthen capacities for employment and entrepreneurship, also promoting innovation, inclusion and equal opportunities, with special emphasis on the participation of women, who will represent at least 50% of the beneficiaries.

As the entity responsible for execution, the Infotep will identify and validate the labor demand in the prioritized territories, design and deliver training programs adjusted to the required occupational profiles and certify the skills acquired by the participants, also facilitating their link with employment opportunities and the strengthening of their entrepreneurial initiatives.

The training actions will be designed according to the needs of the productive sectors of each territory and may be developed in person, virtual or mixed mode, guaranteeing a flexible and relevant offer for the beneficiary population.
