Inapa inicia la ampliación del acueducto de San Francisco de Macorís
Duarte.-The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, gave the first word to begin the expansion work on the San Francisco de Macorís aqueduct, which will benefit more than 285,200 inhabitants and has an estimated investment of RD 3,699,521,760.69.
Arnaud highlighted that the project is part of President Luis Abinader's commitment to continue strengthening the drinking water infrastructure throughout the country, as well as guaranteeing more efficient service and improving the quality of life of thousands of families in the Duarte province.
The expansion includes the construction of a new rapid filtration water treatment plant, with a capacity of 600 liters per second, in Cenoví, as well as the rehabilitation of the existing plant, of 1,000 liters per second, in Mata Larga.
In addition, it includes the installation of 11.6 kilometers of 24-inch drive piping; the construction of two surface buffer tanks of one million gallons each; a 792,000-gallon surface deposit for the northern zone; two elevated metal tanks, of 600,000 and 150,000 gallons; more than 120 kilometers of pipelines; 290 kilometers of distribution networks and the placement of 18,000 urban connections.
The initiative also includes the equipment of a “booster” type pumping station in Cenoví and the construction of another station, with a capacity of 585 cubic meters per hour, in order to optimize the supply of drinking water.
He reiterated that his administration is committed to efficiency and transparency.
“Planning to transform is the fundamental axis of our management, guaranteeing human development for the entire population,” he stated.
Likewise, he asked the population for patience due to the inevitable interventions and disruption of streets that these works entail, while ensuring that the execution is fully guaranteed thanks to the solvency and track record of the contracting companies selected in the tender.
Present at the activity were Governor Ana Xiomara Cortés; Senator Franklin Romero; as well as Mayors Faurys Vélez, from Castillo, and Noel Rafael Abreu, from Pimentel. Finally, the oversight committee was formally sworn in, which will be chaired by Eugenio Vargas.
